Over the past few days, Google has issued new Beta and Developer versions of Chrome for all supported platforms, including Mac OS X. The Dev Channel update (6.0.408.1) contains changes for all platforms and lists no known issues, while the Beta Channel update puts Google’s internal version of Flash Player “back behind a flag.”

The Dev Channel, now at version 6.0.408.1 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, lists the following changes:

All (plaftorms) - Don't remember incognito zoom changes (Issue: 43107).

Windows

- See all.

Mac

- Fix possible deadlock in PluginChannel; - Localization UI Resizing.

Linux

- Fixed various memory related errors.

Google Chrome 5.0.375.53, released to the Beta channel for Linux, Mac and Windows on May 20, “contains some minor crash and stability fixes,” Anthony Laforge, of the Google Chrome Team, reveals. “In addition,” he writes, “we have also temporarily put our internal version of Flash Player back behind a flag. We plan on re-enabling our internal version of Flash Player by default on the beta channel in the near future,” his post reads. Laforge also mentions that the team of developers has been able to fix a regression issue.

A few weeks back, Google announced Chrome 5.0.396.0, which reverted some changes from earlier builds (toolbar, omnibox and other UI elements), fixed bugs and (specifically for the Mac) further polished up the main frame UI, including the bookmark bar. On a more specific note, Google explained at the time that Chrome’s toolbar, omnibox and other UI changes reverted for Chrome 5 had been restored in that specific build.

To get the latest version of Chrome for Mac, readers can use the download link below. Chrome for Mac works on Intel machines only, and requires Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later. The Mac version of the browser is still in beta, therefore users are advised to exercise caution when utilizing the browser, or at least not rely on it for important tasks.
