This week, Apple remotely enabled two new channels for sports buffs to access on their Apple TV boxes, including Tennis Channel Everywhere, and Cricket Australia.

The $99 / €99 set-top box regularly gets updates and new channels, the latter being enabled without any action from the user. Apple simply offers access by flipping a backend switch, and the situation this week wasn’t any different. In other words: no software update to install.

Tennis Channel Everywhere

The latest addition to the Apple TV’s home screen is Tennis Channel Everywhere, a subscription-based service that delivers more than 1000 hours of on-demand content spanning over 450 live events. Customers will pay $70 (€60) a year, $10 (€8.7) a month, or $5 (€4.3) a day.

“By subscribing to Tennis Channel Plus, you will get access to hundreds of hours of live tennis throughout the year including ATP World Tour, WTA, Davis Cup, Fed Cup, and much more,” according to Tennis Channel Everywhere representatives.

More live content can be unlocked with certain cable and satellite subscriptions, while some match highlights and news are offered free of charge.

Cricket Australia

Launched before the tennis channel, Cricket Australia offers immediate access to the latest news and extended highlights from international cricket played in Australia, rare footage showcasing Australia’s most famous cricket games and competitions, feature videos that focus on stars and legends like Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist, tutorials, and more.

Apple TV users in Australia can enjoy the Cricket Australia channel on their Apple TV by simply selecting the channel from the home screen. The service appears to be free of charge.
