While standalone document scanners are typically restricted to certain specific niche segments, mostly enterprise-related (after all, most consumers prefer AIO solutions for their homes), that doesn't mean they're out of the picture just yet, Canon's brand-new imageFORMULA DR-6030C document scanner proving once again the company's interest for this market.

The Canon DR-6030C has been designed for scanning large numbers of documents and delivers color and black-and-white scan speeds up to 80 pages-per-minute (ppm) /160 images-per-minute (ipm).

Moreover, it can handle a wide variety of document types such as thick documents, plastic ID cards, driver licenses, as well as long documents up to 118 inches in length, as well as batches of mixed documents, while being able to deskew or rotate inverted images, a feature that will certainly come in handy when the operator is faced with a large volume of work and very little time to get it all done.

Features such as Auto Page Size Detection and Skip Blank Page can help reduce document preparation time and increase employee productivity by enabling unattended batch scanning, and for quick access to frequently used settings, users can register up to 100 sets of scanning preferences.

It's also interesting to note that the embedded MultiStream technology allows for the simultaneous output of different image types from a single scan.

“We are pleased to offer the new DR-6030C to users seeking a highly capable and convenient distributed scanning solution,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “The DR-6030C is well suited for use at the departmental level, across varied office environments such as government, financial services, healthcare and education,” explained Canon's rep. The new imageFORMULA DR-6030C is available immediately with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $ 4495, which sort of clearly points out the fact that only large enterprises will actually be able to afford such a product.
