New rumors have emerged that Canon will announce a new EOS-1 top end camera body in Q2 of 2014.

For now, there aren't many details on this, but the same source states that the EOS-1D X camera will receive a price drop prior to the announcement of the new EOS-1.

The new body will be out on the market at a similar price point as the 1Ds2/1Ds3 cameras, somewhere around $2,000 / €1,481. Detailed specs for the upcoming Canon EOS-1 are yet to be revealed, but the camera won't hit the shelves until well into 2014.

With the World Cup in Brazil starting on June 12, this might materialize as the perfect opportunity to test the new bodies on the field. It sounds like Canon is going to release a new camera to take the place of their current flagship SLR, two years after the launch of EOS-1D X.

I'll keep you posted as more information this new camera body from Canon emerges.
