New CSI Game. Will This One Be Better?

Looks like Ubisoft is following the games inspired by the TV shows trend as they are planning to develop a game after the famous CSI: Crime Scene Investigation TV show.

The game will be called CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Hard Evidence, and it will adopt the characters and storyline from the TV show. It is scheduled to hit PCs in the
spring of 2007. This CSI inspired game will be developed by Telltale Games, and players will be able to perform forensic reconstructions and experience atmospheric crime scenes, cut straight from the television show.

As far as I can tell from the official press release, this game seems to be a copycat of the CSI television show. As I am a gamer, I expect a game that is inspired by a TV show or a movie to further continue the story of the respective show, not to copy the show exactly, scene by scene.

Apparently, the game will feature an all-new garage lab for analyzing large evidence, I mean car and boats, and on top of this, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Hard Evidence will have some lab mini-games. This seems the most interesting feature so far.

Given the fact that CSI: Crime Scene Investigation TV Show is one of the most popular television shows worldwide, I guess that this new CSI game will register a large success in sales. If it will have amazing graphics and gameplay innovations, it will please the gaming community and everyone will be happy. Considering that Telltale developed Bone: The Great Cow Race, Sam & Max and also CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder, I don't expect much from them.
