A brand new patch for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has just appeared online, bringing with it a huge amount of changes to maps like Overpass or Cobblestone, while also including a crosshair style reminiscent of Counter-Strike 1.6.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is now the second most played game on Valve's Steam digital distribution service and you can bet that the studio wants to ensure that more and more people join in on the fun in the multiplayer shooter.

As such, after several major updates that brought sweeping changes to core mechanics, not to mention new in-game events like Operation Breakout, Valve has released another patch, via Reddit, that includes quite a few more tweaks.

First up, the bullet penetration system has once again been modified, this time allowing bullets to penetrate certain surfaces like fences or ladders, eliminating any such exploits from the game.

Afterwards, quite a few maps have seen plenty of modifications, starting with Mirage and reaching Overpass, Cobblestone, or Black Gold.

First up, Mirage has seen tweaks to certain wallbanging spots, like the upper shutters in kitchen. The wall near the bench on the B bombsite has also been thinned so that bullets can penetrate it more easily. Windows in palace have also been resized so that players can jump into them.

Overpass has seen quite a lot of new tweaks, with the bank side door being opened to allow for a new path into the A bombsite. The A site overall has been redesigned to be more open, as the APC has been moved back, while a new box is present. All sorts of other tweaks have been made to the corridors and the different camping positions around the map so that visibility is improved and things such as shelves or flowers no longer get in the way of the action.

Cobblestone, one of the more recent maps added to the game, has also seen tweaks, as Valve decided to remove some flower pots that provided access to very favorable sniping positions, while tweaking the many corridors and the visibility problems reported by some professional players.

Black Gold from the Operation Breakout event has also been tweaked to eliminate lighting issues, solve collision problems, and to simplify the drill tower bases and pipes.

Last but not least, Valve has also decided to give the community what it wants and add another crosshair style that's similar to the default one seen in Counter-Strike 1.6 or Source.

"By popular demand, added a 6th crosshair style (cl_crosshairstyle 5) which emulates the non-dynamic behavior of 1.6 and Source. Just like the previous versions of CS, this crosshair does not accurately portray current weapon accuracy, spread or recoil, but does provide feedback about whether or not you are currently firing a weapon," Valve says.

The new CS:GO update is now live on Steam and weighs in at around 110MB.
