A brand new patch for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has just been rolled out by Valve for the PC platform via the Steam service, bringing forth quite a few different modifications to the multiplayer-only first-person shooter, including a tweak for the controversial boost spot on the Overpass map.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive had one of its biggest eSports tournaments yet last weekend, in the form of Dreamhack Winter, which saw not just some great matches but also a few different controversies, both before, relating to the cheating scandals, but also during it.

By far the biggest controversy was related to one of the quarterfinals that saw French team LDLC go up against local Swedish team Fnatic. After each team won a match in the best-of-three series, the final round took place on the Overpass map and Fnatic used a controversial spot on the map to boost two players on top of each other and thereby get a birdseye view of many different areas of the map.

The boost eventually got Fnatic the map win, but after some intense periods and a backlash from fans, the team decided to forfeit the tournament and leave LDLC to progress through to the semi-finals and eventually the finals, where the French team defeated favorites NiP and took the grand prize.

A brand new patch fixes the controversial spot

Now, after declining to comment about the boost spot and the whole situation, Valve has releases a fresh patch for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive that fixes the area, while adding a special sign that forbids the maneuver in the spot used by Fnatic, as you can see in the screenshot above, via Reddit.

Besides that modification, the new CS:GO update also includes a few other tweaks for Overpass, such as an extensive for bombsite A, new visual hints, while a jump now replaces the stairs leading into the pit of bombsite A.

The update also modifies the Nuke map, as bombsite B, complete with its ramp section, are now covered in metal, instead of concrete, which means footsteps can be heard more clearly.

Three of the maps included in the ongoing Operation Vanguard event, in the form of Season, Facade, and Backalley have received some bug fixes thanks to the latest update.

More changes based on pro player feedback are coming

Valve's Vitalyi Genkin confirms that, while the team is still recovering from the trip to Dreamhack, it plans on making considerable changes to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive based on the feedback it got from professional players at Dreamhack Winter, so you can bet that big updates will appear in the future.
