It's not clear whether this was a clever marketing ploy or just an accident on behalf of the online company, but on Saturday, December 24, a couple of tracks from Bruce Springsteen's new album, “High Hopes” became available for online purchase on Amazon.

Since the event, Amazon has removed the files in question, but as it happens in cases such as these, the songs have already found their way onto file-sharing websites on the internet. Representatives for Bruce Springsteen and from Amazon have yet to comment on the matter.

It's not unusual for artists to intentionally leak their songs just days prior to the official launch, in an effort to spur sales or just attract attention by appearing in the news.

The album “High Hopes” is a collection of covers and songs that were recorded in the past decade but remained unreleased. It's Springsteen's 18th studio album and it was made in collaboration with the E Street Band and Tom Morello.
