Research In Motion has already confirmed plans to launch its first BlackBerry 10 smartphones in the first quarter of the next year, but it left us in dark when it came to unveiling what these devices would look like.

However, a series of concept devices already made it on the web, providing a glimpse at what enthusiasts dream of when it comes to the next-generation BlackBerry smartphones.

A new such concept phone is now available for your viewing pleasure, allowing for further speculation on RIM’s intentions for the new operating system.

Going by the name of BlackBerry Phoenix HD, the concept mobile phone made an appearance on the web via CrackBerry, coming from one of the website’s readers, Shad.

Boasting a full-touch design, the new device resembles a lot the BlackBerry Dev Alpha handset that RIM made available for application builders.

However, it does feature a series of modifications when compared to that mobile phone, such as the inclusion of a trackpad on the front, with the well-known BlackBerry logo on it.

Just as the BlackBerry Phoenix HD name suggests, the new device aims at bringing new life to RIM’s platform, and the concept’s slogan confirms it: "The rebirth begins with BlackBerry 10."

The phone also features sharp edges, a very large touchscreen display and a small bezel, as well as a front camera to enable video calling.

The internal circuitry of this device was not unveiled, but we can easily imagine that it would pack specs in line with the high-end smartphones available on shelves at the moment.

Thus, if such a phone landed on the market, it would include a dual-core or a quad-core application processor, a minimum 8MP camera on the back, 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, 1GB or more of RAM, and the whole range of connectivity and sensor options.

For the time being, however, the phone is only a dream device, though one that many BlackBerry enthusiasts will certainly want to put their hands on.
