In line with the new look and enhancements delivered to Bing’s search results page, Microsoft started the deployment of a new set of improvements for its service, this time aiming at Bing Image Search.
Bing Image search is currently accounting for around 7 percent of all Bing searches, Jon Noronha, program manager, Bing
Multimedia Team, notes in a blog post.
Following the update, users will no longer be confined to receiving image results in the form of tiny thumbnails, but they will be provided with a stream of big, beautiful pictures.
The entire image search capabilities of Bing, already renowned, will become more immersive and fun, Noronha notes.
“When you check out the new image search, the first thing you’ll notice is the pictures themselves. Our goal with the new design was to make the images shine. We show bigger thumbnails and lay them out seamlessly so you can take them all in at once,” Jon Noronha continues.
In addition to the bigger thumbnails available for Bing Image search users, there is also a magnifying glass that will deliver a preview of any image on which the mouse hovers.
Moreover, people will be able to take advantage of a Filter bar to make it easier to find what they are looking for in accordance with size, color, type, layout, and faces.
Additional enhancements brought to the search service include suggestions, which have been revamped to be more relevant for all users.
The new image search capabilities
were also redesigned to be more fun to take advantage of. There are recommendations that users can easily take advantage of when searching for an image.
“When you search for hot celebrities, funny cats, or cute puppies, it’s easier than ever to sit back and enjoy yourself. You never know that you might find. The right side of the page is devoted to discovering new things,” Jon Noronha explains.
Additionally, the new Bing Image Search comes with the popular trending searches feature, so that people could have a look at what is hot and discover what other Bing users are searching for.
