The Dropbox for Android mobile client has just been updated to a new version, Build 1.0.0.7, Dropbox announced via its forums. Still in beta, the release can be downloaded only from Dropbox at the moment, but it is expected to become available via the Android Market too soon.

According to the release notes for the new mobile client, there are some appealing enhancements included into the mix, along with a series of fixes and some new features.

For example, the new Andorid release of Dropbox comes with a new button in Settings, one that enables users to Clear Uploads.

Moreover, the release notes show that account information should now be available even when offline.

As stated above, the new release also includes a wide range of fixes. Here's what the release notes show:

- Fixed several issues with uploads and downloads - Notifications are filtered better, so shouldn't overwhelm the phone as much - Proxy settings are handled better - Fixed several network issues - Dropbox Service now shuts down when finished - Uploading large files should now happen fully in the background - .url files can be viewed properly again - Better handling of network and authorization errors

At the same time, the development team notes that App2SD now works in Dropbox for Android, although there are some features that might not be available if moved to the SD card.

All in all, the new release should offer an improved experience to users, and all those interested in trying it out should hit the download link below. Keep in mind that this is only a beta version.

“We have a new beta version of the Android app available. Sorry to those who (on AT&T and others) who can't install from here, but if this tests out well, we hope to put it on the Market shortly. Please try it out, so we make sure there are no problems before we release it to the Market,” Dropbox notes on its forums.

Dropbox for Android is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
