Best Buy Mobile, the mobile device retail unit of Best Buy, announced recently a new special offer for the HTC DROID Eris, the second Android handset released on the United States market by mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless. According to the company, the new offer will be in place up until December 26, and it includes the DROID Eris for free upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with Verizon Wireless.

The DROID Eris is one of the most recent handsets that arrived on the market with Google's operating system on board, and Best Buy's Reward Zone members can now enjoy the special offer that started on Devember 18 and will run for the next seven days. According to the retailer, the new device is available for free for Reward Zone Premier Silver members, and can be purchased for only $49 by Reward Zone Base members. Both offers require a new two-year activation, the same as when purchased by other Best Buy customers, which will have to pay $99 for it.

“We have worked really hard to bring all of our customers closer to the most innovative mobile devices in the market by offering choice, value and support. This unique offer on the DROID ERIS is a perfect example of that,” said Scott Moore, VP of marketing for Best Buy Mobile. “The fact that we are able to bring this amazing offer to our most loyal customers is really important to us. It’s a way for the company to express gratitude to those customers and help them take advantage of incredible savings in time for their holiday shopping.”

In addition to enjoying the new handset at special prices, Best Buy customers can benefit from an offer that includes no mail-in rebates, as well as from Walk Out Working services, through which Best Buy Mobile employees activate the handset and make sure that customers are aware of the device's features and benefits. As for the DROID Eris, most of you might already know that it is available from Verizon Wireless for a price tag of $99 with a two-year contract agreement, but also the fact that it has been included in the carrier's BOGO promotion, which means that users can get a second one for free on contract.
