Publisher Warner Bros. and developer Rocksteady have already talked quite a bit about their upcoming Batman: Arkham City action adventure title but it seems that fans of the comic book detective could get a chance to play him again soon in a game which will only be delivered on the Xbox Live Arcade.

XBLAFans has revealed that an industry source, probably working inside the publisher, has stated that Warner Bros. has a development team working on a Batman game for Xbox Live Arcade, named Gotham City Imposters.

In late summer of 2010, some listing about Gotham City Imposters were posted on the official sites of United Kingdom based retailers like WHSmith and The Hut.

At that point, the retailers were saying that the game was set to arrive on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony, with the suggested prices ranging from 54 to 60 dollars, which suggests a full fledged game.

Those listing might have been totally wrong but there's also the chance that Warner Bros has decided that a XBLA game might actually be a good way to draw in a wider audience that can then be acquainted with the larger Batman universe.

Since then neither Warner Bros. nor other sources have talked about Imposters, which seems to be actually based on a comic mini series that has the same name.

The game could see the player again taking on the role of the Dark Knight as he hunts down a band of villains that are posing as Joker in order to terrorize the city.

Batman: Arkham City will arrive in the third quarter of 2011 and will see Batman get involved with the city of villains that is being mentioned in the title of the game.

The initial trailer and information from Warner suggests that villains like The Joker, Two Face and Catwoman will be involved in the plot.
