FirstBank doesn't shy away from making fun of devices such as Google Glass in its new ad

Making fun of Google Glass and its wearers seems to have become a trend lately. The newest company to join is FirstBank, which has just released a commercial.

Of course, it’s not specifically Google Glass it is making fun of, but rather the headgear trend that Google has brought to the world, although it might be more accurate to say “made popular.”

The new ad from the Colorado-based company shows an entire family at dinner time. All members of the family are deep into their online worlds, whether that means playing a game, watching some show, browsing the Internet or accessing social media.

The clip was put together by a local advertising agency and it focuses on the ridiculousness of the world we live in, where everyone has to be online at all times. The added factor of the headgears makes things even more silly since the members of the family are all focused on whatever they see on the small screens of their devices, rather than each other.

This makes the young boy mock shoot whatever monsters he sees, his sister become frustrated with the tool not posting a picture of her dinner and their father try to move through whatever web pages he’s bookmarking and hating those annoying pop-up ads.

The mother, on the other hand, is barely present throughout the whole madness as she watches something on the device while putting peas onto everyone’s plates and pouring gravy mostly on the table.

Basically, the ad has no connection whatsoever with FirstBank’s business, aside from the fact that the company has a mobile app that makes e-banking easier than ever.

However, this shows that Google’s device, as well as any other similar tools are mocked by the majority of the public. Tech lovers aside, these aren’t exactly devices that your regular individual would wear.

At the moment, that’s not even Google’s strategy, although the company did open up sales for anyone for a single day in an effort to figure out just how high interest is for Glass among Americans. Chances are that it was still developers that crowded online to buy the device if they hadn’t had the chance before, but even so, Google should have at least gotten a clear picture ahead of the mainstream launch planned for later this year.

Everyone is poking fun at Google and its headgear and, after all, why wouldn’t they? Glass really does look ridiculous at times. But, as a reminder, cell phone users were being made fun of too back in the day and now everyone has one.
