For all the diehard audiophiles out there, here's one piece of new that's most likely to seriously raise your interest: Lamm have just announced their latest creation in the field of "pure Class A" all-tube amplifiers for home use, the ML3 Signature. We're talking a single-ended tube power amp using a separate power supply and running on a direct-heated triode.

[admark=1]The Lamm ML3 Signature has been developed having in mind only one thing: reproducing the entire audible spectrum with unsurpassed fidelity for a true and natural sonic response and ultra-high accuracy. Designed as a zero-compromise piece of high-end audio technology, this amplifier comes fully-loaded with extreme top-notch components and addresses the most discerning of the audiophiles.

The construction involved six rectifying tubes, six filter chokes and a custom output transformer for the purest results. The GM-70 triode (125W plate dissipation) works with no overall feedback and can drive as much as 32W, while sporting less than 3% distortions at maximum power - a standard not many other amps can brag about.

To underline what do Lamm understand by extreme engineering I'll just add that the transformers have no direct contact with the chassis but are suspended in a special encapsulant which eliminates all vibrations and thus kills any residual mechanical vibrations, adding to the overall purity of the sonic response.

Sporting separate plate and filament transformers, the ML3 Signature boasts one of the most complex power supplying stages, with an intentional over-engineered architecture for eliminating all the possible causes for the lack of full-range definition other single-ended amplifiers are confronting with. The frequency range runs from 20 to 20,000Hz while the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is set to an astonishing 106.5dB.

Still, Lamm have not said anything about pricing, but don't expect anything close to cheap, especially as you need two ML3 Signature units for your high-end stereo array.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
