Well known for its custom firmware releases, AsusWrt-Merlin has just rolled out a new software update targeted at some of ASUS’ wireless routers, namely the 3.0.0.4.376.47 beta 1 version.

This new release can be installed regardless of the operating system powering your computer and applies to all variants of the RT-N16, RT-N66, RT-AC56, RT-AC66, RT-AC68, and RT-AC87 ASUS devices.

When it comes to changes, build 376.47 beta 1 fixes the PPTPD issues where these settings would enable each time the “Apply” button on the PPTPD VPN Server page was clicked, and allows the routers to display the Quantenna firmware version on the Sysinfo page.

In addition to that, the present release enables experimental support for FTP and Samba Cloud Sync in AiCloud, as well as SNMPD under Administration -> SNMP. However, the development for this feature is still in progress, thus it might not be fully functional (yet).

Moreover, the new firmware merges with ASUS’ 2678 GPL from the RT-AC87 software, changes the max FTP user limit back to 10, as it was reverted to 5 upon GPL merging, and adds a new option to enable WAN access to SNMPD (disabled by default).

With this in mind, if you intend to make use of these changes, then download AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 376.47 Beta 1 for the proper device model and apply it on your product. Also, constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
