Ubisoft has just confirmed that it's currently working on the next Assassin's Creed game, which will feature a brand new time period as well as a new protagonist, and is set to appear in the next 12 months.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise is one of its most popular hardcore series, attracting millions of players from all around the world by offering great stories with each installment.

After the very successful Assassin's Creed 3 last year, Ubisoft has now revealed during a financial earnings call that it is, in fact, working on a brand new Assassin's Creed game.

The title will be a multi-studio effort, like with previous installments, but it will focus on a new protagonist and is set in another time period, meaning it won't feature Assassin's Creed 3's Connor or the American Revolution.

No other details have been revealed by Ubisoft, according to CVG, but the game is set to appear in the 2014 financial year, which ends on March 31, 2014.
