As far as headphones go, the wireless ones are the ones to watch out for, but there is one aspect of their nature that most companies often gloss over in their product announcements: battery life.

Arctic may just be one of the few that have managed to give its latest Bluetooth 2.1 headset a battery life that qualifies as decent.

The problem with wireless headsets is that the extra parts needed to make cables unnecessary make the product heavier than usual.

Selecting a large, over-the-ear style for the ear cups usually helps with comfort, and a sturdy and wide headband does too.

Arctic didn't go for the headband when it made the P402, but it did choose the ear cup design, and included a good battery too.

It is actually one of the primary selling points: an 850 mAh lithium polymer that can last for up to 30 hours before needing a recharge (it takes less than three hours).

In addition to the decent life, the Arctic P402 has a pair of 40mm drivers, a frequency response of 20 Hz-20 kHz, a very long battery standby time (300 hours) and a weight of 142 grams.

What's more, when the product is used with a smartphone, it can receive calls easily, and can even automatically pause the music (should any tracks be playing) when a call comes in. Playback resumes just as automatically when the conversation ends.

It is unclear if the same happens, or can be programmed to happen, should, say, a Skype or other type of instant message voice call or conference call be made over the Internet on a PC or tablet.

Knowing that high-end audio peripherals, like all other hardware, usually have installable drivers, we suppose the odds are high for that functionality to be included.

The price of the Arctic P402 Bluetooth 2.1 Headset is $89.99 / 70 – 89.99 Euro.
