The BlackBerry operating system, from the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, will soon see a series of new applications and development solutions. The handset vendor announced recently that it would deliver a new SDK to developers, with support for a wider range of features, including Adobe tools, OpenGL ES support, or new services for the App World. Moreover, now we learn about new applications for the platform, as well as about a solution aimed at the development of LBS applications.

One of the new apps for the BlackBerry OS is the official Craigslist app by Movela, expected to reach the software portal any day now. Users will have the opportunity to search craigslist postings and bookmarks, as well as to reply to posts, save searches, and perform other actions. According to BlackBerry Cool, the new application is to become available for all categories and all countries that one would find on Craigslist.org.

Another application comes from Sensobi, being a simple solution that allows users to check when they last spoke with a contact and what the conversation was about. It has reached version 1.5.494, and comes with a redesigned user interface, as well as with real-time notifications. Those who would like to try it out the will find it available for free in beta on the company's website.

Urbanspoon is yet another attractive application for BlackBerry. It offers users a simple way to choose one restaurant or another. All they need to do is to let the app tumbler spin so as to deliver a random restaurant or style of cuisine. At the same time, the application will also offer a great deal of useful information on the restaurant, such as phone number, map and reviews. The software solution can be downloaded for free from the company's website.

As for Kryos, the company announced, at the BlackBerry Developer Conference, that it would deliver a software solution for building applications for the BlackBerry platform. The Velocity Mobile Platform, which reached version 1.2, comes with support for GPS and for a wide range of other features, offering companies the possibility to rapidly build LBS applications. The solution provides support for BlackBerry OS 5.0 and for handsets like the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Storm2 9550. More details here.
