Verizon has just announced the exclusive availability of the official mobile application for Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer's “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” movie.
The application is available beginning May 3rd for Verizon customers with select smartphones and tablets.
The 'Pirate Discovery app features exclusive content from the above mentioned movies, including character stills, character bios and movie artwork.
Those who download the application on their devices will be able to browse local show times, find nearby theater locations and purchase tickets directly through the app, as soon as the “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” movie is out in theaters.

With Captain Jack Sparrow returning for a new adventure in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, we wanted to find ways to connect with the franchise’s incredibly dedicated fan base, as well as bring the world of Pirates to new platforms,” said Don Gross, vice president, global promotions, Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing.
With the new application captain Jack Sparrow's fans will be able to immerse in a world of Pirates content before, during and after the movie is released on May 20th.
Those who have seen the movie can also share their experiences by creating Facebook and Twitter posts from within the app.
In addition, Verizon customers who download the app on May 7th will be able to watch a live stream from the world premiere, a pre-film event taking place at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
Gamers are in for a nice surprise, as the carrier will provide exclusive access, from May 17 to June 14, to Disney’s mobile game for Android phones, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas.”
The 'Pirate Discovery' app is available as a free download directly from Android Market. Additionally, Verizon customers with select 3G and 4G Android mobile devices can get it by texting “AHOY” to 52011.
