New Antigen E-mail Security Products from Microsoft

Antigen, initially a Sybari Software Inc. product, provides businesses with a server-level antivirus, anti-spam and an increased protection and content filtering for e-mail user. Announced to be available from July, 1 2006, Microsoft's security solutions comprise anti-malware protection for e-mail servers, and strong protection from viruses, spam, and other threats and malicious content, ensuring centralized control without taking a tole on server or network infrastructure performance.


Antigen for Exchange, Antigen for SMTP Gateways, Antigen Spam Manager and Antigen Enterprise Manager make up Microsoft's security package. The first provides anti-virus and content filtering for Exchange Server 2003 and 2000, also dealing with internal problems.

Antigen for SMTP Gateways is a similar feature as Antigen for Exchange, but for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2000 Server SMTP Gateways. Antigen Spam Manager focuses on stopping spam, filtering it before it affects the users. Finally, Antigen Enterprise Manager provides an application for centralized management of Antigen-protected servers.

"Customers are faced with the challenge of providing the best possible protection for their e-mail users and maintaining the availability and performance of this mission-critical application. Antigen's unique multiengine solution integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange Server to provise customers with the benefits of layered protection, while minimizing cost, complexity and impact performance," said Ted Kummert, corporate vice president of Security, Access an Solutions Division at Microsoft.

Microsoft announced a three-month trial license for Antigen e-mail security products. This is available online at http://www.microsoft.com/antigen/downloads/trial-software.mspx.
