The latest Kindle Paperwhite may only be two months old, but that doesn't mean Amazon doesn't already have the next one in the works. In fact, it does.

And said next-generation Kindle e-reader will, once again, be called Paperwhite.

Amazon has adopted the tried and true tactic of simply updating a product's hardware and software while keeping the name everyone is already familiar with.

Samsung is doing the same with the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, for example.

The folks at TechCrunch also say that the Paperwhite will be lighter and will have a display with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (PPI), plus a power button on the back, chamfered edges and haptic feedback along the edges.

The software won't go through any changes though, not big ones anyway.

For those wondering, the existing Kindle Paperwhite has a 212 ppi screen.
