For a speaker system to get any attention nowadays, one might think it would strive to integrate advanced technologies and design elements, but it looks like Altec Lansing managed to get its recent one recognized through simplicity and accessible price point.

These days, audio solutions come in a variety of forms, something that goes for pretty much every other piece of technology out there.

For audio systems, design is one of the primary things that users take into account when considering their options, since a solution of this sort has to fit in well in a home or whatever other space.

Granted, the system should have a decent sound quality as well, but IT companies still gain a lot from working on the looks.

On the flip side, sophisticated surround products like this end up costing more than what the average consumer is willing to pay.

Fortunately, there are droves of solutions with fewer perks and better price points, like the newest product form Altec Lansing.

Essentially, the so-called BXR1321 is what one would call a low-end 2.1 speaker system, meaning that there are two satellites and a subwoofer.

The speakers themselves are of the 2-inch, full-range variety and use magnetic shielding, something also present in the subwoofer itself. Also, that very subwoofer is a 4-inch side firing one.

They are also described as having an elegant design and best suited for portable media players, netbooks and PCs.

Meanwhile, the price is, one might say, among the lowest ranges, all things considered, that being of as low as  £29.99, although the actual recommended price is 34.99 Euro.

Finally, by next month, a version without a subwoofer, named BXR1320 2.0, should also become available, for 20 Euro. What remains is to see if Altec Lansing delivers any higher-end product in the meantime.
