A few months ago, in January Acer announced its wallet-friendly Iconia B-720 tablet, which came equipped with a MediaTek dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz fitted with 1GB of RAM.

But Acer seems to be gearing up to launch another tablet from the B series, this time powered by an Intel processor, instead.

And since Acer is scheduled to hold a press event in New York on April 29, the Iconia B-730 might be among the products unveiled in the Big Apple.

The PC-manufacturer is expected to debut a whole range of products during the event, but we’re going to take about these a little bit later.

Going back to the new slate, it should arrive with a 7.9-inch WXGA HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, reports Notebook Italia.

The IPS screen isn't the only improvement here, because as we mentioned above, under the hood lies an Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail, which is the same powering the Iconia A1-830 tablet and its 7.85-inch screen.

Apart from that, there are no additional surprises onboard. The tablet is fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity.

Acer has bumped things a little in the battery department too, offering a 3700mAh one, compared to the 3000mAh that powers the current B1-720. That means users should be able to get up to 7 working hours out of the slate.

The Acer Iconia B-730 will probably arrive in Wi-Fi and 3G version with pricing starting at around €130 / $179 in Europe.

The new slate is expected to hit stores in mid-May, but official details will probably be revealed on April 29 in New York.

Anyway, in related news, Acer is expected to roll out a whole host of new products at its “A Touch More Connected” event.

There has been avid speculation in the press, the device maker might be gearing up to release the world’s first Chrome OS tablet, but there are very few facts to back this story up.

Most likely, Acer is going to roll out a new Chromebook model, maybe one running Intel’s latest Braswell architecture, a bunch of tablets and, who knows, maybe a new wearable, since everybody these days is super excited about this category.

It makes sense that Acer will push out more tablet models, since the company has set some pretty big goals for itself in 2014. In 2013, the Taiwanese company was estimated to have shipped a total of 5 million tablets worldwide, but this year the manufacturer wants to double the numbers.
