14 DAY TRIAL // Desktop cases usually follow a sort of general feature set, with only minimum deviations other than in terms of outer color, especially when the product is supposed to sell to the masses. Inter-Tech strayed a bit more than usual when it created the SY-139 line of ATX mid-tower cases though.
That's not to say that the PC chassis cannot be immediately recognized as such. This definitely isn't some strange, arachnid-shaped case like certain models from Lian Li.
Indeed, at first glance the enclosure may seem quite ordinary. However, at one point, one's eyes will fall on the distinct absence of 5.25-inch drive bays, save for one.
Even the lowest-end cases usually have three or more, unless they are miniature chassis with insufficient room for more than one.
Nevertheless, German peripheral and case maker Inter-Tech gave its SY-139 ATX mid-tower case a single 5.25-inch bay. At least it also included an optical drive tray pop-out.
The primary traits of the chassis
The presence of a single 5.25-inch bay means that you won't be able to install anything front-accessible other than an optical drive. So no fan controllers or water cooling systems for you.
Fortunately, the product is meant only for regular systems and office PCs, so it's unlikely the target customer base would want such add-ons anyway.
On the flip side, the case does have a bulged-out side panel, where you can install two fans without taking away from the case's internal space.
This provides more room for your hardware, including full-height graphics cards and taller than normal CPU coolers.
Also, there actually are three more 5.25-inch bays, but with internal access only. So we suppose that drive cages, at least, can be installed there.
The Inter-Tech SY-139 case also benefits from a top-mounted PSU bay and a front panel with an SD/mciroSD card reader, HD audio jacks, and a pair of USB 3.0 ports.
Availability
The SECC and ABS plastic-made Inter-Tech SY-139 ATX mid-tower case will ship in dark gray and black colors starting soon, if it isn't already for sale. It is equipped with 120 mm front intake, two 140 mm side intake, and one 80 mm rear exhaust fans. All in all, it measures 195 x 430 x 413 mm / 7.67 x 16.92 x 16.25 inches.
Unfortunately, the company did not share the price that its latest creation will sport, so we're left guessing until a retailer or other lists it.
