Kingston Technology, the well-known manufacturer of memory products, has recently announced the availability of a new type of 8GB microSDHC card for mobile phones.

[admark=1]The new 8GB microSDHC card (product name: SDC4/8GB) will allow mobile users to store more than 15,000 songs in digital format, over 4,000 images made with a 5 Megapixel photo camera, or up to eight hours of high-quality video.

Measuring only 11 x 15 x 1 millimeters (0.43 x 0.59 x 0.039 inches) and weighing a mere 1.4 grams (0.05 ounces), the 8GB microSDHC Kingston card can provide data transfer speeds of at least 4.4 MB per second and is operable at temperatures between -25?C and 85?C (from -13?F to 185?F). The card is not compatible with microSD devices, but only with most of the microSDHC ones.

Many of the major handset manufacturers (Nokia, Samsung, LG, HTC, Motorola or RIM) are making more and more microSDHC-enabled phones. Thus, the newly announced 8GB microSDHC Kingston card has been successfully tested on devices like LG evV2 (VX9100), LG Voyager (VX10000), Samsung Glyde (U940), Samsung BlackJack II (i617) and BlackBerry Pearl 8120.

Talking about the new mobile product, Wendy Lecot, Flash card business manager at Kingston, stated: "Consumers are demanding more from their mobile phones, expecting them to double as music and portable game players, instant cameras, email communicators, browsers and navigators. Having enough storage capacity, particularly in the form of memory cards, keeps internal device memory free to deliver all this multi-functionality. Our 8GB microSDHC cards are so roomy that mobile users can easily move entire digital libraries from a PC to their mobile phones - and beyond."

The new 8GB microSDHC Kingston card has a suggested retail price of 58 USD (36 Euros). It comes with lifetime warranty and can be found online, at Kingston's official website, or at various distributors and retailers.
