This could be yet another entry-level Lumia smartphone

A new, unannounced Nokia device has been spotted online over the weekend, in the form of Nokia RM-977, which could land on shelves as an entry-level smartphone from the Finnish mobile phone maker.

The handset was seen on the website of Zauba, which tracks all devices that are being imported into India, where it is listed with a price tag of Rs 7,966 ($130/€95) attached to it.

Little is known on the unannounced Nokia RM-977 for the time being, except for the fact that it will land on shelves with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display. The smartphone is also said to feature single-SIM capabilities.

Although no specific info on what the handset will turn out to be in the end has emerged for the time being, there’s little chance that it will be an Asha phone, considering its screen size and pricing, NokiaPowerUser notes.

Instead, the device might be launched as a new entry-level Lumia smartphone, one that would sport specs a bit higher than those of Nokia Lumia 525, which was made official only recently.

The phone has been sent to India for testing and evaluation purposes, yet there’s no telling on when it will become available for purchase.

However, with CES 2014 coming up in January, and with MWC following soon after, chances are that Nokia will launch the new handset at one of these events.

At the moment, the most popular Windows Phone 8 smartphone out there is the Nokia Lumia 520, which is also the cheapest of them all.

This suggests that Nokia RM-977 could prove highly successful as well, provided that it will indeed be released as an entry-level Windows Phone 8 handset, as speculated.

Hopefully, it won’t be too long before more info on this device makes it online, so keep an eye on this space to learn some more details on the matter.
