3DXTech could have left things well enough alone and just gone along with regular plastic filament, but it wanted to see things 3D printed out of tougher stuff, so it created a type of filaments with carbon nanotubes inside.

The company calls the collection of filaments 3DXNano and made them from a mixture of ABS plastic and carbon nanotubes.

The filament can be used to create 3D print components with protection against electrostatic discharge, even parts of integrated circuits.

The material is quite consistent and ductile, not to mention tougher than normal ABS plastic, so it has the added benefit of being a good fit for semiconductor and automotive markets, as well as the rest of the industrial sector really.

You can use the filament alone, or with the equally new 3DXMax HIPS support material, which can be used to make the support structure of whatever you're making, assuming you own a multi-head printer.

3DXTech has a thing for filaments really, having released other, important materials, like the iOn High-Performance ABS/PA Alloys (it prints like ABS, but has better thermal, chemical and mechanical performance).

Currently, the 3DXNano material is still in testing, but you can be among the testers if you sign up for it.
