It should complete prints in half the time or less compared to most others

The 3D printing technology is all well and good, but it is also painfully, agonizingly slow, especially if you are making something that uses all the build volume available to the build plate/chamber. Dynamo3D saw this as its chance to make history.

On average, 3D printing projects take half a day. Well, that isn't altogether true if you also count how long it takes to acquire and modify a virtual model, or make one from scratch.

Nevertheless, actually printing the thing can take from several hours to several days, depending on how many mm/s the extruder can add (in the case of FDM printers) or how quick light can cure resin (SLA).

This is the main reason why people mostly hit the print button just before they leave for work or play, or before going to bed: to spare themselves the boredom of watching their item grow, micro drop by drop.

Dynamo3D has now launched a 3D printer with a travel speed of up to 700 mm/s, which is a staggering level no matter how you look at it.

“Normal” 3D printers can reach 200-300 mm/s, but the real quality only comes out when you restrain yourself to 40 mm/s or so. Sure, some recent models can manage a bit more without the end result being deformed and wrinkly, but the speed is still well behind what Dynamo3D advertises for the D3D One Evo 3D printer.

Dynamo3D collaborated with Create it REAL on the new product, though it does imply that, even though you can, you still shouldn't go above 300 mm/s unless you're willing for the end result to be less than perfect.

Materials supported by the newcomer include ABS, PLA and FLEX plastics, though others should be added to the list soon enough. The print color will depend on what filament you own, but frame colors offered are WhiteOrange, MultiDrops, Caleido, GreenHexagon, WhiteGreen, MultiForms and many others.

The maximum build volume is of 240 x 240 x 250 mm / 9.44 x 9.44 x 9.84 inches, while prints are carried out by a filament extruder (2.85 mm) with a nozzle of 0.4 mm in diameter.

All in all, the Dynamo3D D3D One Evo 3D printer has a size of 380 x 440 x 450 mm / 14.96 x 17.32 x 17.71 inches and weighs 13 kg / 28.66 pounds. It is not up for sale yet, alas, but it will be made available in September for the price of €1,900 / $2,569.
