It has a narrow metallic bezel and dynamic mega-contrast ratio

Monitors come out all the time, but their feature sets don't allow for much variety, which is why every new improvement becomes ubiquitous pretty quickly. That's what seems to be happening to flicker-free technology. As AOC's latest display shows.

We've covered several monitors during the course of the past few weeks, and flicker-free LED backlighting technology was mentioned more often than not.

This goes to show that even this relatively rare asset is now becoming a standard fixture of the PC display industry.

Flicker is an effect that the naked eye can't distinguish, but which, nonetheless, happens constantly on normal displays.

It's why our eyes tend to grow heavy and sore after a few hours of sitting in front of an LCD, LED-backlit or not. You can see the effect if you record a video of an active monitor or TV.

So, Flicker-Free technology is guaranteed to improve the ease of use, and make it more comfortable to gaze on a display for extended periods of time.

Low Blue Light technology is another asset that does that, but AOC did not use it when it built the newcomer.

Speaking of which, the latest display is called i2473Pwm and, as one might be able to guess from reading the name alone, has a diagonal of 24 inches.

The native resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, as one might have surmised, and the response time is of 5 ms, which is average overall but pretty good for IPS technology.

Indeed, while IPS panels usually have better, wider viewing angles than TN ones, they are a bit slower. 5 ms is more than decent because of that.

Furthermore, the AOC i2473Pwm possesses a pair of 14W stereo speakers and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, with dynamic mega contrast (DCR of a million / a few million to 1).

Add to that the brightness of 250 cd/m2 (not very good, but not too poor either) and the narrow bezel, and you have a pretty good option for multi-monitor gaming PCs. And multimedia playback will do fine too, as will streaming a smartphone's content, thanks to MHL (mobile high-definition link).

All in all, the AOC i2473Pwm IPS LCD monitor measures 547.1 x 408.6 x 182.6 mm / 21.53 x 16.08 x 7.18 inches and weighs 4.12 kg / 9.08 pounds. Finally, the newcomer features D-Sub (VGA) and HDMI inputs. It's a shame that AOC didn't give a price or exact availability date, though some retailers have it for order already.
