We'll cut right to the chase: ViewSonic is doing its job, having released a new monitor.

Called TD2340, it has a diagonal of 23 inches and an IPS panel of 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. So far, nothing out of the ordinary.

The Dynamic Contrast Ratio is the first thing that stands out: 20,000,000:1. It ensures high clarity and image sharpness in dark scenes.

Then there is the support for 10-point multitouch. Touch panels have been getting more common lately, but 10-point monitors are still unusual.

As for connectivity, there are three inputs for PCs, laptops, tablets or whatever else: DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA.

Full USB HID compliance and VESA mount compatibility are side-advantages.

All in all, the newcomer is a decent Windows 8 monitor. Its price might put people off though ($599 / 460-599 Euro).
