Agile Web Solutions claims 1Password 3 is the biggest upgrade in the program’s history. The new version is still in beta, but adds many new features and enhancements. Version 3.0.0.BETA-83 (build 30083) is now available for download to all existing users, as well as newcomers.

“This is a beta so you should expect missing polish and bugs,” Agile says on the page reserved for 1Password Beta notes. “If testing unreleased products and reporting issues is not your idea of fun, you should wait for the final 1Password 3 release. Those who decide to help test should backup all data before upgrading. If you want to be on the cutting edge and enjoy reporting issues, come on in!” the team developing the popular password manager and form filler says.

1Password 3 requires the Agile Keychain data format, according to the company. Users are required to make sure they upgrade their 1Password data to the new format before installing 1Password 3. Version 3.0.0. Beta-83 (build 30083) brings the following changes:

- Now showing 'No Items Found' label when search returns no results. - Now using rotating locked/unlocked image in locked screen. - Added a workaround in attempt to resolve a problem with missing software license information. - Now displaying a long sequence of tags in multiple lines. - Made sure 1PasswordAgent process does not crash on Mac OS X 10.5.4. - Upgraded the included ShortcutRecorder framework code. - Updating intro screens when new items are created in the browser. - Fixed shortcut recorder to not show blank error message when the localization is missing.

1Password 3 requires Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and supports most modern web browsers. The program sports built-in, anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Using the app, Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. There is also a mobile version of the application. The iPhone client, appropriately named 1Password Touch, securely stores one's website names and passwords.
