The need for improved performance and more storage space seriously manifests itself in the memory cards' segment as well, larger and faster CF cards, such as the brand new 128GB 600x CompactFlash card from Axtremex, making their way onto the market over the past few months.

As PhotographyBlog reports, the new storage solution for professional photographers and videographers comes equipped with 128GB of available space, doubled by some pretty impressive data transfer rates, of up to 90 megabytes per second read speed and up to 60 megabytes per second write speed.

According to the manufacturer, these things will most likely prove to be fully compatible with all CompactFlash card devices available out there, whether we're talking about DSLRs, camcorders or other recording devices (including professional products here, such as the nanoFlash, nano3D and Flash XDR compact-sized, HD/SD Video and Audio recording and playback devices).

Naturally, given the card's fast speed and large storage capacity, the new memory card from Axtremex will prove to be extremely useful for the owners of HD camcorders or DSLR featuring HD video recording capabilities, who'll have quite a large amount of space available for recording good-quality videos or large-size photos in rapid sequences.

However, one must not forget that, no matter how fast and generous (in terms of available space) these things might prove to be, they're also prone to failure (like any other storage product, after all), so frequent backups are in order (we don't believe any of you would like to loose 128GB of unsaved photos and videos in an instant).

Beside the 128GB versions, Axtremex also offers users a more affordable, yet equally speedy 64 GB CompactFlash card.

Naturally, such a high-end storage solution doesn't come cheap at all, users having to pay around US$499.99 for the 128GB card, which is not exactly a sum many users are likely to take lightly.
