Players can take advantage of all professions available in the game

Many MMORPGs offer players the option to specialize their characters in various professions and Neverwinter is no stranger to this unwritten rule.

However, it does come with something new, as each character can make use of all professions in the game. Each player can start a profession by hiring workers who gain experience by completing various tasks that can be chosen by players.

For the time being, Neverwinter allows players to pick up to five professions: Leadership, Leatherworking, Mailsmithing, Platesmithing and Tailoring.

With the exception of Leadership that requires players to hire a soldier, all other professions need workers in order to be able to pick up various tasks. You can manage your crafting skills from anywhere in the game and you don’t need to head to a certain trainer.

Simply start training professions once your character reaches level 10 by clicking the N key. Only one profession can be trained at a time, but as your character levels up, you’ll be able to train 2 or 3 professions at the same time.

Some tasks require certain materials that can be found in the Neverwinter world as loot from chests, mobs or even bosses. There are tasks that require a higher level asset (i.e. leatherworker, soldier), while other tasks don’t have any requirements at all.

Each task requires a certain amount of time in order to be finished, but there are additional assets that can reduce the time needed for completion. These “additional assets” can be obtained for real-life money via Zen Market or you can get them from certain quests.

Obviously, regardless of how many “profession materials” you pile up during your adventures, there will be times when you will lack a specific material in order to start a new task.

That’s no problem as Cryptic has introduced Profession merchants who sell you some of the basic materials that players need in order to level up their professions faster.

The rarest materials (blue) are either available in the Zen Market for real-life money or they can be looted from mobs or bosses, but I have noticed that the chance is very low.

The good news is that you can manage your professions from outside the game assuming you have access to a computer connected to Internet.

There’s something called Gateway, which allows Neverwinter players to check their character's stats and gear, as well as manage Auction House and Professions.

This is a great way to make in-game money if you are into the economic part of MMORPGs, as you will be able to watch closely what happens in the Auction House.
