If you’re a drug addict on medication and need to keep track of the pills you take on a regular basis, Drugs.com, an online clinical drug information resource, has released this handy Pill Reminder application for your iPhone.

A flexible, easy-to-use iPhone app, My Meds Pill Reminder can be used to help manage any combination of medications, vitamins and supplements, even birth control pills.

You can download the app if you’re the type who forgets when to take or to refill your medications, but also if you want to store records, such as drug photos, pharmacy contact information, calendar history, and special prescription notes.

Via My Meds, users can get access to trusted medical info, like safe use, side effects, dosage, pill ID, pregnancy warnings, interactions and other drug stuff that only your pharmacist would know.

"As a pharmacist, I am very excited to be offering a new mobile application that could greatly improve safety for those taking prescription medications,” said Philip Thornton, CEO of Drugs.com.

“We hope it will help simplify the lives of many Americans by helping to organize their drug information and greatly improve patient compliance.”

“After the success of our Pill Identifier and Medical Information apps, we are confident this latest addition to our mobile portfolio will be very well received," added Thornton.

A study on Medication Adherence (PhRMA 2011) has revealed that “as many as 75 percent of patients (and 50 percent of chronically ill patients) fail to adhere to, or comply with physician prescribed treatment regimens,” according to Drugs.com.

The study also found the following:

- 32 million Americans use three or more medicines daily
- 75% of adults are non-adherent in one or more ways
- The economic impact of non-adherence is estimated to cost $100 billion annually

My Meds Pill Reminder is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later. It sells for $0.99 / 0,79 €.
