The idea of having a headset that can actually automatically measure one's brain activity by simply being placed on their head seems to be a bit far-fetched, but, in fact, that's exactly what the people over at NeuroFocus promise with their brand-new Mynd headset.

According to NeuroFocus, their Mynd device is actually capable of delivering full-brain coverage with the help of dense-array EEG (electroencephalographic) sensors, each of these sensors capturing brainwave activity at 2,000 times a second.

Furthermore, the company also claims that, after just a few seconds from the moment the user-friendly headset is put on, the a consumer's brainwave activity will be captured across the full cortex, while it's built-in Bluetooth module will allow it to easily work with other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

While the Mynd doesn't really have a serious level of applicability in the mainstream consumer segment just yet, it might be quite useful for companies carrying out all sorts of research studies, as it will be able to provide a clear and fast insight into the human brain's response to certain specific stimuli.

"While developing Mynd, we focused on achieving medical-grade scientific precision along with extraordinary ease of use and aesthetics. This neuromarketing breakthrough provides new opportunities for our clients to gain critical knowledge and insights into how consumers perceive their brands, products, packaging, in-store marketing, and advertising at the deep subconscious level in real time," said Dr. A. K. Pradeep, Chief Executive Officer of NeuroFocus.

Apparently, NeuroFocus has some pretty big plans for its Mynd headset, meaning that this contraption will apparently be rolling out throughout its neurological testing laboratories around just about the international markets, but will not be available for the general public, at least not yet.

Furthermore, the company also points out that Mynd will also be available within their NeuroLabs dedicated neurological testing facilities, which NeuroFocus designs, builds, staffs, and operates for individual client companies.

The Mynd headset is actually not the world's first dry contact, wireless full-brain EEG headset. A company called QUASAR (http://www.quasarusa.com) released such a device in 2010, which can be seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjbhs1-C7Ig).

On a more technical note, neither Mynd (nor QUASAR's system) use a "dense-array." However, QUASAR's headset appears to be more in-line with the International 10/20 system than the Mynd.

Not only is this not the first...it's not even real. This is a computer graphic rendering and the picture from the neurogadget website is a nonworking mockup!

The claims regarding dry electrodes are also not supported.

The Quasar device is a prototype only (according to thier website so its not real either).
