Spam abuse also led to email servers being blacklisted

The problems are not over for Network Solutions. After the company’s systems were breached by pro-Palestinian hackers a couple of weeks ago, now users are experiencing DNS and email issues.

On Monday, the company informed customers that the difficulties they were experiencing with email services were caused by spam abuse that resulted in blacklisting with Trend Micro, LashBack, SORBS, and Backscatterer.

On Tuesday, the company apologized to customers for the issues they experienced due to “an incident on the Network Solutions DNS.”

The company hasn’t provided any details regarding the DNS incident, but claims that its team “worked quickly to mitigate.”

A couple of weeks ago, when hackers of KDMS Team breached the company’s systems, they changed the DNS records for several high-profile websites, redirecting their visitors to their own defacement page.

The company and its parent, Web.com, have been awfully quiet about the incident, so when I hear of DNS incidents, I can’t help but wonder if it’s not the work of hackers again.
