Snort, an open source network intrusion prevention and detection system (IDS/IPS) developed by Sourcefire, which combines the benefits of signature, protocol, and anomaly-based inspection, is now at version 2.9.4.5.

The developers of Snort have apologized for moving too fast with the version number, but it seems it was necessary to do so in order to align with the open source build.

Highlights of Snort 2.9.4.5:

• The proxy information has been removed from the HTTP URI searching. This means that the URI matches are consistent with the actual URI; • An issue, that occurred when logging packet data, via unified2, has been fixed; • Snort will continue to search for patterns, within the HTTP URI, until the end of the URI;
