14 DAY TRIAL // Netrunner Rolling, Linux distribution based on Manjaro that features KDE as the default desktop environment, has been updated, and a new Beta release has been made available for download.
The Netrunner Rolling hasn't been around a long time and users could mistake it for the regular Netrunner version. The difference is that the rolling edition is based on Manjaro and the other one on Kubuntu. It's also interesting to mention that Manjaro doesn't follow a rolling release model, but the system it's based on, Arch Linux, does. It's not hard to keep track of all of these, but it's fun.
Another interesting aspect is that we have a Beta 3 release for a rolling distro, but that's beside the point. As you would expect, the Linux distro packs a lot of very new packages, and it's very likely that it will get updated once more when it gets close to the final version.
Latest Netrunner is now based on Manjaro 0.8.13
Manjaro 0.8.13 was released just a few days ago, and it's the most advanced stable version available right now. It's actually a much bigger update than it seems at first glance, and that is completely reflected in the Netrunner Rolling release.
"Based on Manjaro 0.8.13, Blue Systems is proud to present Netrunner Rolling 15.06 (beta 3) to you. This time we ship Plasma 5.3.1, KDE Frameworks 5.10.0, latest KDE Apps 15.04.1 and the brand new graphical installer Calamares 1.1-rc2!" reads the announcement.
The developers also explained that Netrunner Rolling is using the latest KDE Plasma 5.3.1 version and Linux kernel 3.18 as default, although newer versions are probably already available in the repositories.
