Wireless video streaming seems to be one of the hottest topics in the home theater market if we were to judge by the number of such solutions released into the wild, Netgear just adding their very own 1080p streaming solution to the market, dubbed the 3DHD wireless home theater networking kit.

Announced all the way back in March at CeBIT, this kit is actually made up of a pair of two High-Performance Wireless-N HD Home Theater adapters that connect to your devices via four Ethernet ports to deliver multiple, simultaneous, jitter-free 1080p HD video streams.

This means that one of the two adapters will be plugged in into your router or gateway, this acting as the video content source, while the other will connect to IPTV set-top boxes, Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and Wii consoles, Blu-ray players or Internet-enabled TVs.

Data between the two adapters is transmitted via a 802.11 a/n 5GHz wireless LAN connection, Netgear promising it can maintain an impressive data bandwidth thanks to a 4x4 multiple-input, multiple-out (MIMO) antenna design, that should also provide a pretty reliable data link.

Furthermore, Netgear states that its technology has been tested to provide sustained throughput of HD streams in excess of 40 Mbps 99.9 percent of the time, through multiple walls, throughout an above-average single family home.

"Our High-Performance HD Home Theater Kit provides wired-equivalent connectivity and whole-home coverage using wireless," said Som Pal Choudhury, Netgear director of product marketing for Core Networking Products.

"The technology is way ahead of the competition.

With its groundbreaking speed, range and reliability, it is like WiFi on steroids," concluded the company's rep.

Finally, the kit will be available sometime in the middle of November for $259, while individual adapters can be purchased for $129, so it's pretty easy to expand your wireless streaming network if you so desire. (via SlashGear)
