Netflix, the video streaming service, might soon become available on more smartphones powered by Android, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

A new version of the Netflix application for Android is getting ready to emerge in the Android Market, and it should add support for a wide range of new devices, it seems.

No official announcement on the matter has been made so far, but Netflix version 1.3 is now mentioned in the Android Market, although the official version of the application is still 1.2.2.

Moreover, the software's description shows that a wider range of devices are now supported by the application, at least when compared to the list published for 1.2.2 about a month ago.

The list of newly supported devices includes: HTC Doubleshot, Droid Incredible 2, EVO 3D and Thunderbolt, Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet, Motorola Atrix, Droid X2, Droid 2, Droid 3 and Droid Bionic, along with Samsung Droid Charge, Epic 4G, Galaxy S, Galaxy S 4G, Fascinate and Nexus S 4G (via Android Police).

Whether this was posted by mistake or not, it remains to be seen. For the time being, however, we can only assume that the soon-to-be-here Netflix 1.3 application version will indeed include support for all of them.

For the time being, it seems that owners of the aforementioned devices can not access the service, although the Android Market says that they should be able to.

Most probably, Netflix will soon announce the extended support for Android devices soon, in a move aimed at offering more users the possibility to access the service while on the go.

And with handsets like the EVO 3D or the ThunderBolt there, users will certainly rejoice when the new app version is released.

With Hulu Plus already available on handsets running under Google's Android operating system, it was only a matter of time before Netflix was to enhance device support for its application and service.
