Netflix has just announced that it struck a deal to finance and then stream a limited series of episodes of the beloved Arrested Development, which Fox canceled due to low ratings a few years back.
But the series had a very loyal following and has enjoyed huge success even after it got canceled, on sites such as Netflix and Hulu and on DVD.
Netflix has been looking at ways it can get more exclusive content for the site and bringing back canceled shows is one of the strategies.
Apparently, the plan is to create a short season, nine or ten episodes, which would serve as the introduction to a feature film that is also said to be in the works. Netflix has said that episodes will be available in 2013.
It's not the first time Netflix has went at it alone, it is financing the production of a
high-profile miniseries, "House of Cards," staring a new Kevin Spacey and directed by David Fincher.
