Netflix announced its third quarter earnings, but the filing includes more than just financial data, it also has some important information about how the company is faring compared to its competitors.
For instance, Netflix added
1.3 million new subscribers in the United States alone, putting the total number of members at over 40 million, which is 30 million more than one year ago.
Furthermore, Netflix users streamed some 5 billion hours of content over the past three months, putting the total number of hours streamed in the past six months at 9 billion.
Also, Netflix’s earnings report indicates the company has 29.9 million paying members, which efficiently puts them ahead HBO, who has only 28.7 million customers in the United States.
Worldwide, however, the numbers stand differently for certain, since HBO has a much wider reach than Netflix, who is slowly expanding across the globe.
