Netflix, Inc. has updated its free iOS app to add iPhone and iPod touch support, allowing subscribers on plans starting at $8.99 a month to instantly watch TV content streamed to their device.

“Get Netflix on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch,” reads the updated App Store description. “Just download this free app and you can instantly watch TV shows & movies streaming from Netflix.”

Version 1.1.0 of the Netflix iOS app now supports iPhone and iPod Touch in addition to iPad, the company announced in a report today.

"Apple has changed the game for mobile devices," said Reed Hastings, Netflix co-founder and chief executive officer.

"We're excited that our members can now carry Netflix around in their pockets and instantly watch movies and TV shows streamed from Netflix right to their iPhone or iPod touch." Hastings added.

The report then describes the usefulness of Netflix, including features like a high-quality viewing experience, a broad array of movie and TV choices, and the clean interface.

The software works both over Wi-Fi and 3G, while users have the option of fast-forwarding and rewinding the video stream.

Thanks to this recent update, the Netflix App now supports all iPhones and iPod touchs running iOS 3.13 or later.

The key features list provided by the app’s developers has been reproduced below:

• Watch as often as you want • Resume watching where you left off on your TV or computer • Browse movies and manage your instant Queue right from your device

Netflix is the world's largest subscription service streaming movies and TV episodes over the Internet with more than 15 million members.

The company also makes profits by sending DVDs by mail.

For $8.99 a month, subscribers to the service can instantly watch unlimited TV episodes and movies streamed to their supported devices.
