A new version of Netflix for Android is now available for download for handsets running under Google's Android operating system, offering a wider range of users the possibility to access video streaming while on the go, namely Netflix 1.3.0.
This is the same application version that was spotted into the wild before, which included support for a wider range of devices out there.
However, unlike yesterday,
the application is now official, and was made available for download via the
Android Market for the owners of a much larger series of devices.
Launched with support for only a handful of smartphones running under Android, the application was already updated before to offer support for more of them.
The same happened with the new Netflix 1.3.0 app version. The only enhancement that was included with it was the expanded support for phones, the release notes show. You will find the full list of supported handsets at the bottom of this article.
The new application release weighs in at 7.0MB, and is compatible with Android devices that run under the Android 2.2 Froyo or newer flavors of the platform.
The mobile software was made available for download for free, and offers users the possibility to easily watch TV shows or enjoy movies streaming from Netflix.
The app is free, but access to videos requires
Netflix membership. A free trial of the service is also available for those who would like to give it a try.
Netflix members can also watch shows on any supported device, including TV or computers, and are also offered the possibility to browse movies and manage their Queue right from the Android device in their hands.
