Assuming your netbook has a webcam, it can be remotely controlled

Looks like anyone wondering what they could possibly do with their old netbook, finally has a solution that is both unusual and useful, assuming security is what they're seeking.

Basically, Colin Adamson took an adjustable stand, some wheels, an Arduino micro-controller and a webcam periscope, plus the required software and transformed one of those things into a sort of security sentry.

An 11-inch netbook can be seated on the stand and then controlled from another computer/tablet/smartphone via the open-source software (Windows, Android or iOS operating systems are all supported).

The webcam periscope can tilt, offering the possibility to look across the room (that is what the aforementioned Arduino controller is for).

Alas, the designer needs $15,000 to get anywhere with this project and he's only gathered $1,500 so far.

Drop by Kickstarter if you all want to learn more about this.
