Nero has updated the main title among its product lineup in order to embrace the latest iteration of the Windows client. Almost two weeks ahead of the October 22nd, Windows 7 General Availability deadline, Nero introduced Nero 9 Reloaded, a product that has been tailored to the successor of Windows Vista in more ways than one. First of all, Nero 9 is now fully compatible with Windows 7, meaning that the integrated digital media and home entertainment software suite has been thoroughly tested for compatibility and reliability problems with the latest version of Windows and found to meet the strict criteria imposed by Microsoft.

In addition to featuring Microsoft’s “Compatible with Windows 7” logo, Nero 9 Reloaded has also been designed in order to play nice with the operating system at the level of the graphical user interface. One aspect of the compatibility between Nero 9 Reloaded and Windows 7 is that the Nero BackItUp & Burn software that ships bundled with the multimedia suite has evolved its interaction model in concordance with the new Windows Aero GUI bells and whistles.

Users will find that Nero BackItUp & Burn in Nero 9 Reloaded allows them to turn to “Jump Lists” in order to launch projects. Moreover, the backup and media burning software is integrated with the functionality of the Windows 7 Taskbar (Superbar), including Pin and Preview actions.

“Nero has built its reputation on the ability to solve the highly specific digital content needs of today’s diverse consumers,” noted Kris Barton, executive vice president of global products, Nero AG. “With Nero 9 Reloaded we are not only ensuring the liquidity of our users’ content, but are helping to better protect their valuable photos, videos, music and data. Compatibility with the new Windows 7 Operating System further underscores our longstanding commitment to platform interoperability.”

Nero 9 Reloaded is currently available from the company for €59.99 as a download and €69.99 as a box version, this even though integrated into the same package is Nero BackItUp & Burn software, which Nero estimates at a £39,99 value.

A free but ad-supported version of Nero 9 is available for download here.
