The tiny touchscreen handset has now support for 20 languages

Neonode, the Sweden-based telecoms company, announced today that its fashionable Neonode N2 touchscreen mobile phone has received yet another set of enhancements, in addition to the firmware update released yesterday. From now on, the Neonode N2 will also feature a Chinese XT9 text input interface (phrase prediction included), besides the ones already featured, allowing consumers from China to make use of the handset's capabilities in their native language (be it Simplified or Traditional).

[admark=1]Moreover, Neonode has also come up with support for Malaysian and Indonesian languages, bringing the total number of supported languages to 20.

Users who already own a Neonode N2 can install the new language interfaces by downloading the 2.1.552.2 firmware update from Neonode's website. The new N2 units to be shipped from now on will have the update already installed.

"With the new software upgrade, the localization of Traditional and Simplified Chinese and additional language support for Malaysia and Indonesia, we believe we have a really competitive product that opens up new possibilities in Asia. Well, Asia is definitely an attractive market, as it's the continent with the largest number of mobile subscribers. The $535 (339 Euros) retail price of Neonode N2 might not allow just anyone to buy it, but with the support for the new languages, there will surely be lots of users interested in getting themselves a tiny and good-looking touchscreen handset.

In a stylish case of only 77 x 47 x 14.7 millimeters and 60 grams, Neonode N2 packs the following features: a 2 inch TFT touchscreen display with 176 x 220 pixels, an easy to use interface, called Neno and patented by Neonode, a 2 Megapixel camera, Media player, Bluetooth, 1GB of memory (on a miniSD card) and so on.
