Neonode N2, one of the most interesting and small mobile phones launched in the last months, will soon be available in several Asian markets, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan and Singapore.

Neonode Inc., the Sweden-based company that created the N2, announced a collaboration with Excel Field International Ltd., a leading Asian mobile device distributor, for an initial shipment of N2 phones valuing a total of $1.1 million. Excel Field will distribute the tiny N2 to about 4,000 retail outlets across the above-mentioned countries.

Neonode N2 weighs only 60 grams, measures 77 x 47 x 14.7 millimeters and comes with a 2 inch TFT touchscreen display (176 x 220 pixels, 65K colors) and a specially designed touch-enabled user interface called "neno", which offers an intuitive and unique mobile experience. Moreover, N2 offers quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS, a 2 Megapixel camera, Media player (MP3, WMA, WMV and MPEG supported), Web browser and an 1GB miniSD memory card (this can be replaced with a 4GB one).

"We are delighted to add Excel Field International to our growing list of global partners," declared Per Hellberg, Vice President of Sales at Neonode. "They will play an important role when we now enhance our focus of moving into the Asian market and the relationship also represents an important step forward in achieving our 2008 sales target of 200,000 phones."

Brian Ho, CEO and Founder of Excel Field International Ltd., said: "Neonode is at the forefront of touch screen technology and the Neonode N2 is highly capable of presenting the next big thing in the market. We are happy to include such an innovative Scandinavian brand in our portfolio."

Without packing the most advanced features out there, Neonode N2 seems to be a cool device: simple to use, fashionable and easy to carry around, so it might appeal to many Asian mobile users (known for being very keen when it comes to unique-looking gadgets).

There is no exact release date for the N2 in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan and Singapore, but the small handset should be available in the next weeks / months, for an undisclosed yet price (somewhere around $600 anyway).
