Patch 5 for NeoOffice is now available to users. The Mac OS X suite of office applications that got Media Browser support just last month is now saying farewell to three more bugs, thanks to Patch 5 issued by NeoOffice.org.

The previous NeoOffice patch (4) put the Solver feature back into its place, as the developers fixed certain crashes that were likely to happen while using it. Patch 4 also made it possible for users to export PDFs more easily, with no missing glyphs in equations, and print envelopes without having their images cropped out.

Patch 5, the one that you're encouraged to download and install right now, comes with the following fixes: fixes a bug where opening Office 2003 XML file produces General I/O error; fixes poor selection of Polish and Cyrillic replacement fonts; fixes a problem where landscape documents could be cropped when printing.

NeoOffice is a full-featured set of office applications (including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, and database programs) crafted especially for use under Mac OS X, based on the OpenOffice.org office suite. It integrates a bunch of native Mac features and can import, edit, and exchange files with other office programs, even Microsoft's.

The office applications suite handles most Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Files, but also Excel VBA Macros. Neo 2.2.3 adds QuickTime video support (but only for Mac OS X 10.4.x and higher), with the ability to import images from scanners and cameras, for different kinds of projects. NeoOffice version 2.2.3 also brings command-clicking on window titlebar and Mac OS X Leopard grammar checking support.

NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 5 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 2.2.3 and will not install on any version of NeoOffice 2.2.2. Patch 5 includes all fixes and additions of previous patches. You will need to run Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later in order to use the NeoOffice suite of office applications.
